Prepare
A sound, dry, stabilised wall
Clean the wall with a pressure washer on a moderate setting or a stiff brush, treat moss and algae with a fungicidal wash, and let it dry for at least 48 hours. Scrape off flaking paint, fill cracks with exterior filler, and brush off anything that chalks under your hand.
New render must dry for a month before painting. On a porous, chalky or never-painted surface, apply our Stabilising Primer: it binds the surface and evens out absorption, without which the first coat will sink in patchily. On sound old paint it is not needed.
