Decorating ideas & inspiration in metallics
Rich gold, pale gold, bronze and silver: our metallic finishes are hand-brushed and alive like old gilding — nothing like a simple glitter effect.
Kept for an alcove wall, a ceiling or a dado, they catch the day's light and give it back in the evening. Here are our favourite ways to wear them.

Mylands metallic paints: gold, bronze and silver
Our metallics come from the FTT collection, formulated for London's film studios and theatre stages: paints made to catch directed light. At home that means they behave like no other shade — their colour changes completely with angle and hour, and that is exactly what you come to them for.
Rich Gold FTT-001 is the warmest, most candid gold, spectacular on a ceiling, an alcove or the inside of a bookcase. Pale Gold FTT-002 is its quieter, near-champagne version, warming a room without dominating it. Pale Bronze FTT-003 brings a muted brown cast, handsome on joinery or a chimney piece, and Silver FTT-004 gives a luminous grey that freshens a dark room.
Three pieces of advice: apply them over a well-prepared undercoat — a metallic reveals every flaw in the substrate; always work in the same direction, since particle orientation decides the finish; and keep them to limited surfaces where the light travels. A ceiling, the back of a shelf or a door is enough.
