Dark grey paint
A refined dark grey paint colour, Oratory is inspired by the striking stone interior of Brompton Oratory in London. Reflecting the grandeur and architectural refinement of this historic space, the colour carries a sense of composed elegance, offering depth, sophistication, and a quietly commanding presence.
A blue undertone gently influences the dark grey colour, introducing a subtle coolness that tempers its richness and gives Oratory a layered character, combining strength and refinement and allowing it to work seamlessly in both contemporary and heritage interiors.
This colour works particularly well where its depth creates a sense of gravitas and focus. Applied across walls in Marble Matt Emulsion or on woodwork in Plant Based Eggshell or Matt, Oratory delivers a durable, elegant finish. Strong, composed, and versatile, it brings gravitas, calm, and refinement to interiors.

Product data & safety sheets
Every Mylands paint is water-based and contains only trace levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) - far below what regulations allow. In practice, that means very little odour while you paint, quick drying between coats, and brushes and rollers that rinse clean in warm soapy water, with no need for white spirit.
Once fully dry, the finish is certified to EN 71-3:2019, the European toy-safety standard, so it can be used with confidence in nurseries, children's bedrooms and playrooms - even on painted toys, cots and furniture - and in homes with pets.
As with any paint, keep the room well ventilated while you work and let surfaces dry completely before children and animals return.
Mylands water-based paints are among the gentler decorative finishes you can bring into a home, but the usual common-sense precautions still apply:
- Keep paint out of the reach of children and away from food and drink.
- Ventilate the room well during application and drying.
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If paint gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
- If swallowed, rinse the mouth and drink plenty of water, then seek medical advice with the tin or label to hand.
- Like most water-based paints, the formulation contains small amounts of preservative, which may produce an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals.
Store tins upright, tightly closed, somewhere cool and frost-free. Never pour leftover paint down the drain: allow residues to dry out, then take them - tin included - to your local household-waste collection point.
