Wood moves, absorbs and marks: it needs a flexible, opaque paint, not just a good colour.
Our Multi-Surface finishes go onto new or previously painted wood after careful preparation, and stand up to knocks in high-traffic areas.
Every colour is available in every finish, so you can match woodwork exactly to your walls.

Colour, fully loaded. Since 1884, Mylands has ground its own pigments - natural earths and minerals - at its West Norwood factory in London. Every shade carries a higher pigment load than any other paint: it is this generosity of raw material that gives walls a depth you notice at first glance.
More pigment means truer colour in every light, greater covering power and exceptional staying power - fewer coats to apply, fewer touch-ups over the years.

The ingredients make the difference. Natural earths and mineral pigments, crushed Carrara marble, carefully selected water-based binders: every Mylands tin is formulated from the finest natural ingredients, brought together in our single London factory.
The crushed marble - reclaimed from stone-industry offcuts - lends the emulsions strength and luminosity; the natural pigments, their depth. And every ingredient is traced end to end: a transparency required by the Royal Warrant the house has held since 1985.

A litre goes a long way. Thanks to their richness in pigment and raw material, Mylands paints cover up to 15m² per litre per coat - an exceptional spread rate that changes both the budget and the job.
A 2.5-litre tin covers up to 37m²; a 5-litre tin, up to 75m². Fewer tins to buy, fewer coats to apply, an even finish sooner. Actual coverage varies with the porosity and preparation of the surface.

Colours that live with the light. The exceptional load of natural pigments gives Mylands shades a rare depth: the colour shifts through the day, revealing undertones that ordinary paints flatten.
That same richness of material is what makes them last. Formulated for longevity - in the palaces, museums and great houses the company supplies - our paints keep their intensity year after year. A paint that lasts twenty years pollutes less than one redone five times.

Beautiful on your walls, kind to the planet. Mylands decorative paints are water-based and low in VOCs; safe once dry and compliant with the EN 71-3 toy-safety standard, they are as suitable for children's bedrooms as for living spaces.

Everyday life doesn't scare it. Our wall finishes achieve Class 1 wet-scrub resistance (EN 13300) - the highest rating possible. Fingerprints, splashes, scuffs: one pass of a sponge and the wall looks freshly painted again.
It is the ideal finish for the rooms that live hardest: hallways, kitchens, staircases, children's bedrooms. The colour stays intact, wash after wash - no burnishing, no marks.

Every Mylands paint is water-based and contains only trace levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) - far below what regulations allow. In practice, that means very little odour while you paint, quick drying between coats, and brushes and rollers that rinse clean in warm soapy water, with no need for white spirit.
Once fully dry, the finish is certified to EN 71-3:2019, the European toy-safety standard, so it can be used with confidence in nurseries, children's bedrooms and playrooms - even on painted toys, cots and furniture - and in homes with pets.
As with any paint, keep the room well ventilated while you work and let surfaces dry completely before children and animals return.
Mylands water-based paints are among the gentler decorative finishes you can bring into a home, but the usual common-sense precautions still apply:
Keep paint out of the reach of children and away from food and drink.
Ventilate the room well during application and drying.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If paint gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
If swallowed, rinse the mouth and drink plenty of water, then seek medical advice with the tin or label to hand.
Like most water-based paints, the formulation contains small amounts of preservative, which may produce an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals.
Store tins upright, tightly closed, somewhere cool and frost-free. Never pour leftover paint down the drain: allow residues to dry out, then take them - tin included - to your local household-waste collection point.
