As 2024 comes to a close, we at Mylands are thrilled to reflect on the projects and collaborations our colours have featured in throughout the year. As Britain's oldest family-owned paint manufacturer, we're proud to share our treasured heritage with creatives in and around London, shaping bespoke palettes for designers, galleries and artists.

Dulwich Picture Gallery's 'Rubens & Women' exhibition

Held at Dulwich Picture Gallery, Rubens & Women features an outstanding array of paintings and drawings from across the Flemish artist Rubens' career, celebrating women and showcasing the varied and important place they occupied, both real and imagined, in his world. The exhibition walls feature a selection of colours from the Mylands Colours of London collection, including Millbank™ No.254, Bond Street™ No.219, Lock Keeper™ No.18 and Mortlake Red™ No.290, evoking a depth that complements the artwork and interiors.

Founded in 1811, Dulwich Picture Gallery is the world's first purpose-built public art gallery. Mylands paints are made in Lambeth, South London, so it was natural for us to support such an iconic venue, sharing our passion for colour and located just around the corner.

Mayfair's sketch restaurant features Mylands colours

As part of 'Dreamscapes', sketch's 2024 Art & Design exhibition, Mylands' Film, Television and Theatre (FTT) Collection was chosen to decorate 'Home of the Braves', an installation across the façade, reception and iconic pod bathroom by prominent artist and fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. For it, commanding Mylands shades of red, blue and yellow, FTT-11™ CSO Green, FTT-18™ Ultramarine Blue, FTT-08™ Mid Chrome, FTT-09™ Bright Red, FTT-10™ Vermillion, FTT-19™ Ultra Violet, Pink House Pink and Enamel Blue™ No.78, are used across multi-coloured slogan flags and playful walls covered in vibrant shields, coats of arms and imaginary weapons, immersing visitors in the combative, heroic spirit of the Suffragettes.

The National Portrait Gallery's 'Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII's Queens' exhibition

This is the first major exhibition to focus on the women who married the infamous Tudor king, exploring their agency, influence and cultural impact in life and afterlife, and stepping back in time to showcase contemporary portraits, costumes and sixteenth-century portraits. Mylands has a long-standing association with the National Portrait Gallery, established over its many years as the UK's oldest paint brand, founded and based in London, so Mylands was asked to develop a colour scheme that complements the portraits, evoking a sense of time and place and creating a memorable experience for the visitor.

"Mylands provide a personalised, professional service that's efficient and accommodating. Their paints are well mixed with a strong depth of colour and good coverage." - The design team at the National Portrait Gallery.

Inspired by nature, the Jinny Blom x Mylands collection

The Mylands x Jinny Blom collection features 12 tones, inspired by Jinny's own experience of the outdoors, her special bond with nature and her rare talent for landscaping gardens with a natural feel. Her London-based landscape practice launched in 2000, and she has since created gardens and large estates all over the world, designing several Chelsea Flower Show gardens and winning Gold in 2007. These colours are typically drawn from the land and local materiality; in a city there's a lot of freedom, yet in the wider countryside, wherever on earth it might be, it's definitely driven by the tonality of the landscape and the weather.

"Mylands has an exceptional understanding of colour as a mood-altering background, so in that we share a common language. The paint quality is second to none." - Jinny Blom.
