Painting the Gallery Red: Introducing Dulwich Red
Mylands is delighted to add a new bespoke colour, 'Dulwich Red', created especially for Dulwich Picture Gallery. Drawing on Sir John Soane's 'Pompeian Red' from his celebrated library, this rich, warm tone has been refreshed with a touch of terracotta to bring out the light of the Gallery's remarkable Enfilade.
Mylands is delighted to introduce a new bespoke colour to its collection, 'Dulwich Red', created especially for Dulwich Picture Gallery. Inspired by Sir John Soane's 'Pompeian Red' from his famous library, this rich, warm hue has been reworked with a hint of terracotta to draw out the Dulwich light across the Gallery's exceptional Enfilade.
With lockdown opening a window for uninterrupted renovation, Dulwich Picture Gallery took the chance to rethink and completely refurbish the space. Months in the making, Dulwich Red was developed by lifting samples from the original paint layers beneath the surface, testing the colour at different hours of the day and working shoulder to shoulder with the gallery's curatorial team to arrive at the ideal shade to bring the space alive.

Anyone who falls for this Soane-inspired colour can buy samples of the exact shade, along with the others featured in the newly curated permanent collections, from the Gallery's shop, with larger quantities available directly through Mylands.
