Decorating ideas & inspiration in orange
Apricot, coral, terracotta: Mylands oranges are shades of earth and setting sun, easier to live with than you'd think once the right neutrals surround them.
Our orange schemes marry them to warm whites, deep browns and aged brass.
“Orange is the warmth that stays when the light has gone.”
Choosing an orange: from apricot to terracotta
Orange is rarely asked for by name, yet it is present in almost every English house under gentler names: apricot, sienna, brick, tobacco. It is the warmest family on the card, and the one that works best in rooms short of sun.
For a soft orange, Clerkenwell No.21, Onslow No.48, Marble Arch No.82 and Paving Stone No.61 are very pale apricots and peaches that warm a wall without announcing themselves. Butter BH.21 and Wheatsheaf BH.23 slide towards wheat and honey.
For a denser orange, Golden Square No.131, Beehive Place No.140, Pimlico No.136 and Haymarket No.47 give the ochres and terracottas that make the character of a dining room or hallway. Cigar BH.20 and Freegrove Mustard drop towards tobacco and mustard, handsome on woodwork. Mid Chrome FTT-008 is our most candid orange, best kept for accents.
