A Hampstead Home Transformation

We explore how homeowner Amanda Jennings braved a new look for her Hampstead home with the help of architect and friend Siri Zanelli.

As we welcome the new year, we look forward to starting afresh with a blank canvas and endless possibilities. As the old saying goes, new year, new you, so why not a new home transformation too?

We explore how homeowner Amanda Jennings braved a new look for her Hampstead home with the help of architect and friend Siri Zanelli (@archsirizanelli / @collective_works), in the hope of inspiring anyone apprehensive about making a start. Through this transformation, here's what to consider as you prepare to take the step.

1. Your favourite colour

Sometimes it can be as simple as picking your favourite colour and trusting it. Together, Amanda and Siri created a broad palette of bold, earthy hues to choose from when reworking the living room, and the final decision came back to Amanda's favourite colour, mustard yellow, a fond reminder of the warmth and sunshine of Italy, where Amanda owns her Oliveto Estate. This was perfectly captured in our Freegrove Mustard.

2. Different times of day

During the project, Siri explored colour further and how it can change in different lights, throughout the day and alongside how it interacts with other colours (better known as metamerism), which she called part of the joy of working with colour.
