As Seen in Press & Social This Spring

Discover the key highlights for Mylands this spring: the rooms and features that caught our eye in print and on social media, from white studio walls to painted floorboards under the eaves.

It is always a pleasure to see where our richly pigmented colours end up, and what people do with them once the tins are open. Here are the projects, in print and on social media, that have caught our eye this spring, gathered to give you ideas for your own rooms.

What links them is the range of surfaces the colour has landed on. Walls, of course, but also kitchen cabinet fronts and a set of painted floorboards, which is a useful reminder that a colour you have fallen for need not stay above the skirting.

Catherine Nice @kittymccall, artist - walls in Pure White™ No.1. Lisa Dawson @_lisa_dawson_, writer - kitchen cabinets in Wharf Sacking™ No.127.

Period Living, May 2024 issue - walls in Freegrove Mustard. Frances Costelloe @frances_glory_costelloe, artist - floors in Threadneedle™ No.262.

Part of what carries rooms like these through a photograph is the pigment. Marble Matt Emulsion holds more pigment than any other paint on the market and is made with crushed Carrara marble, whose fine mineral content lifts the reflection of light within the pigment itself, so a colour shifts a little through the day rather than sitting flat.

Where paint goes underfoot or onto cabinet doors, the finish matters as much as the colour, since eggshell, satin and gloss are the harder-wearing of our finishes. Marble Matt earns its place on a busy wall another way, being formulated to be scrubbable and remarkably easy to retouch without flashing or patchiness.

If one of these has caught your eye, the sensible next step is to see it on your own wall before you commit. Light varies so much between rooms, and between morning and evening in the same room, that no photograph, ours included, can settle the question for you.

We would love to see what you are making. Tag @mylands_london on Instagram to share your own projects, and they may appear in a future editorial, in the newsletter or across Mylands' social media.
